Flat Feet
Overview
Flat feet occurs when the foot arch either never develops during childhood, or after a serious injury in which the arch collapses in on itself. Obesity may also be a contributing factor in flat feet. This is almost exclusively painless, and individuals with flat feet hardly need to seek out professional help for it. However, pain can develop within the arch or heel, and the inside of the ankle may begin to swell.
Symptoms
- An uneven or tight shoe fit
- Feeling of exhaustion within feet
- Generalized foot pain
Treatment
Most people with flat feet don’t need any kind of medical treatment, however, if flat feet are causing you any type of pain, over the counter pain relievers are viable as well as shoe inserts and physical therapy exercises.
