Vascular Testing
Vascular testing refers to many different tests and procedures that measure the health of blood vessels throughout the body. This can play a crucial role in identifying and diagnosing various health conditions related to vascular health. Health conditions that can be identified via vascular testing are:
- Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
- Deep Vain Thrombosis (DVT)
- Carotid Artery Disease (CAD)
Vascular testing is important in identifying these conditions early, as to treat them as early as possible.
PAD Vascular Testing
A simple, non-invasive test can be performed to detect potential blood flow issues. A sensor is placed on each foot and hand for at least 15 seconds, determining a ratio between the blood volumes in the arms and legs. This ratio is called the Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI). Because many PAD cases go undetected, it is important for an individual to know their circulation status.
